Dark Night.. Here I come! - Heath Ledger brings record crowds

This week me and my friends are planning to watch Dark Night, everyone says it was so good which made me excited to watch it already. It just started and now a Box Office Hit! One thing that excites me is to watch Heath Ledger on his Joker role. I know he did a great job on this. Weee!!! really exciting.. Got to bring good and enough snacks inside, they say the movie was a bit long, but was really worth it! So Dark Knight.. Here I come! :)

Anyways, I've read an article about the success of Dark Night, Joker made a big part on this.. sharing this to you guys.. :)

FANS keen to see Heath Ledger's performance in his final film have propelled The Dark Knight to a US box-office record.

Buoyed by excellent reviews, exceptional word of mouth and strong interest in the late Australian actor's last completed role, the Batman adventure yesterday set a record forany midnight debut.

The movie - which also stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Maggie Gyllenhaal - earned $US18.5 million ($19 million) from its midnight screenings in 3040 theatres.

The Dark Knight outstripped the previous midnight record, set by Star Wars Episode III: The Revenge Of The Sith.

That film, which had been eagerly awaited by Star Wars fans, grossed almost $US17 million from 3663 opening venues.

Some industry observers foresee The Dark Knight making as much as $US134 million over the weekend - another record.

The highest single-day opening record in the US is held by Spider-Man 3, which made $US61 million.

The Dark Knight, the follow-up to 2005's Batman Begins, opened in Australia on Wednesday and is also expected to break local box-office records.

Some Hollywood pundits are tipping Ledger for a posthumous Oscar nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category for his role as The Joker.

"We've been thrilled by the response to The Dark Knight, first from critics and now from audiences,'' Warner Bros Pictures spokesman Dan Fellman said.

"From our earliest screenings, the buzz on the film has been white-hot ... and it hasn't let up.''

In the US, The Dark Knight was shown on a record number of movie screens nation-wide.

Across the country, 4366 theatres showed the film on its opening day, a figure that outstripped the wide bow of Disney's Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End, which touted a theatre count of 4362.

Batman Begins, which premiered in June, 2005, earned a whopping $US15.5 million on its first day.

Both films were directed by British writer, producer and director Christopher Nolan.

Justice To Michael JOhns

It's really sad last week, when Michael Johns, one of my favorites in American Idol, got eliminated earlier than most people expected. I really miss him now. And now, this week, Kristy Lee Cook's time is over, Haha!, She must have been eliminated mush earlier than MJ, She's no good compared to other contestants, she's just pretty, yeah right, can sing.. but not as good as others. No one expects MJ to be eliminated that early, i remember Chris Daughtry and Catherine Mcphee last season, wherein Chris had a good performance that week than Catherine but Chris was the one that got eliminated, but as far as we know, Chris Daughtry is much famous now with his band Dauhtry than Catherine. I really believe that Michael Johns will be a good recording artist someday. Everyone was really shocked when you watch that episode. The most shocking elimination throughout all seasons, as many people says. And now, only one was left from my favorites, David Cook. I believe that he deserves to be the winner. GO DC!!!

David Cook's Always be my Baby

I'm so happy that this week, AI has been great!, Everyone did their jobs well, and of course my favorite amongst all, David Cook did the a very good job on making Mariah's Always be my Baby his own song and even got a standing ovation from Randy Jackson. Other's may think Randy as being exaggerating, giving a standing ovation on that performance. For me, he deserve that standing ovation, he really is a one heck of a singer and no one can ever interpret a song so uniquely than anyone else in the competition. Not only he makes the songs his own but he also performs it well and makes the song more beautiful. I really love his version of Mariah's Always be My baby. This is a studio version that have David's clips from AI, amazing editing from whoever you are... :)

Goodbye to Ramielle

Oh noh.. It's a goodbye for Ramielle, I just hoped that she should have stayed more longer than Kristy. Ramielle is better than Kristy but song choice could be the reason for Ramielle's elimination that evening. It's been a sad night, everyone was just so sad but it's ok. Being in American Idol as a top 10 is really a big thing. She is very lucky, really... I also hoped that this would be a good step for her to start a career, as a true singer and be recognized by people around the globe.

Graduation Celebration

I attended a graduation party of a high school friend last night and I'm so happy that we finished up college at the same time. Three of my high school friends graduated in nursing and one in finance at their perspective schools. And me, my graduation is on April 11 and I'll be finishing up nursing also. My graduation date was a bit late compared to others but that party became a get together for us high school friends and was able to talk about jobs already and not school stuffs. Time moves fast really fast... Well anyways, we had a great night on that party. And we saw a celebrity guy walking his dog on the street in the middle of the night before we got home.. We don't know the name but he is more of a commercial model right now that is why we recognize him that easily. So hot! haha...

Goodbye to Four Idols

It's been an emotional day for these people whom ended their journey as an American Idol contestant, as what the judges have said, it's just the beginning and there are more opportunities to come, their experience are fantastic and forever be remembered and this is what AI had given them as a gift. Ramielle, a Filipina contestant is still going strong and i truly hope that she'll be a part of the top 12 contestants, or could be the next American Idol. Good song choice that could show her good vocals on every performance could make her stay longer and win the competition. Let's cross our fingers to that.

Across the Universe Day

got this info from MadTomAtoe

Tomorrow, February 4, 2008, at 00:00 GMT (7:00 p.m. New York /EST), NASA will beam the Beatles’ “Across The Universe” to the star Polaris, 431 light years away (that’s 431 years travel at the speed of light before our all-time favorite Beatles song reaches the 2.5 quadrillion miles away star). This is being done to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the song, the 45th anniversary of NASA’s Deep Space Network, an international network of antennas that supports missions to explore the universe, and the 50th anniversary of NASA.

Across the Universe

NASA has invited people around the world to play “Across the Universe” on their audio systems at the same time NASA beams its mp3 version into outer space. The idea was hatched by Beatles’ historian Martin Lewis, who encourages all Beatles fans to play the track as it is being beamed to the distant star. Additionally, this date will be known as “Across the Universe Day”. The event marks the first time a radio song has been beamed into deep space.

Join the celebration!

Bloggers, let’s do this! This blog got the track ready. I also added Fiona Apple’s version and Beatles’ Here Comes The Sun to the playlist. You can add the playlist to your blog or site, I’ve included its code below. Please invite other bloggers as well to join the celebration.

Now I'm tagging anyone... Anyone of you who sees this post until 8am tomorrow, feb 5 2008, I'm tagging you and help spread the news! just don't forget to link me... good day...

Farewell to Heath Ledger

-smh.com

Heath Ledger, the Australian-born actor whose breakthrough role as a gay cowboy in the 2005 movie "Brokeback Mountain" earned him a nomination for an Academy Award, was found dead Tuesday in an apartment in Manhattan with sleeping pills near his body, the police said.

The police said Mr. Ledger, 28, was found naked on the floor near the bed in an apartment in SoHo that he had been renting. The chief police spokesman, Paul J. Browne, said the police did not suspect foul play.

“There was no indication of a disturbance,” he said, adding that there were no signs that Mr. Ledger had been drinking. Nor were any illegal drugs found in the loft, which takes up the entire fourth floor. Neighbors said Mr. Ledger had occupied it for several months.

Police officials said that a bottle of prescription sleeping pills was found on a nearby night table, but that they did not know whether the pills had anything to do with Mr. Ledger’s death. Officers who checked the apartment found other prescription medications in the bathroom. A spokeswoman for the medical examiner’s office said an autopsy would be conducted on Wednesday.

Mr. Browne said no obvious indication of suicide, like a note, was found in the bedroom.

Mr. Ledger had become a familiar figure in his SoHo neighborhood — and something of a fixture in gossip columns — since moving there after he broke up with the actress Michelle Williams who played his wife in “Brokeback Mountain.”

There were reports of hand-holding and lip-locking with various actresses and models, and sightings at restaurants and cocktail bars. He had clashed with paparazzi in Australia, but in New York, where there is no shortage of problem-causing partygoers, “he certainly wasn’t one of them,” said Paul Sevigny, an owner of the Beatrice Inn, a West Village club that Mr. Ledger frequented.

“He was really polite and nice,” said Mr. Sevigny.

The police said Mr. Ledger’s body was found after a masseuse arrived at the apartment at 2:45 p.m. for her regular appointment with Mr. Ledger. A housekeeper let her in and knocked on the door of Mr. Ledger’s bedroom. No one answered.

The housekeeper and the masseuse pushed open the bedroom door and saw Mr. Ledger, unconscious, on the floor. They shook him but could not revive him, and then called for help, the police said. The housekeeper told officers that she had heard him snoring in the bedroom around 12:30 p.m., the police said.

Rock On!!!!.....

Christopher Adam Daughtry (born December 26, 1979) is an US-American rock guitarist, singer and songwriter who is the lead vocalist of Daughtry, a band he formed in 2006. He is also known as the fourth-place finalist on the highly publicized 5th season of American Idol, eliminated from the competition on May 10, 2006.

After his fallout from Idol, his band's self-titled debut album sold more than 1 million copies after just 5 weeks of release, becoming the fastest selling debut rock album of all time. In its ninth week of release, the album reached number one on the Billboard charts, edging out the Dreamgirls Soundtrack. Daughtry is the fourth most successful American Idol contestant in history, behind Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Clay Aiken, as well as the most successful non-runner-up or winner.

Anointed as the quickest selling rock debut in Soundscan history, DAUGHTRY became the #1 top selling album in the country not once, but twice, after debuting at #2 in November, 2006, moving upwards of 300,000 copies in the first week alone. Here are videos from Daughtry's album "Home" and It's not Over.

Elliott Yamin in Manila.. yipee!!!!

IT’S CONFIRMED! American Idol sensation Elliott Yamin is coming to Manila as part of his Asian tour.Known for his gritty, raw voice, this well-loved tenor placed third in the finals of the fifth season won by Taylor Hicks. Critic Simon Cowell described Yamin as “potentially the best male vocalist in the history of American Idol.” Born in Los Angeles, Yamin admits that he has never received formal training in music—“I’m karaoke-trained!”
One year after the end of American Idol’s fifth season, Yamin had released his first self-titled album. His CD is the kind that is genuinely moving, grooving, touching and comforting and he will be in all the Ayala Malls to promote the album.

Catch Elliott Yamin at the TriNoma on September 21, Glorietta on September 22, Market! Market! on September 23, Ayala Center Cebu on September 26 and Alabang Town Center on September 28.

Does this even look like the Elliot Yamin we all knew and love? How do we feel about the grown out hair? Just in case you need a reminder of what he used to look like…

I'm an American Idol fanatic and Elliot is one of my favorite and I should say, he has the most outstanding vocals among males that AI had... Here are some of my favorite performance by Elliot in American Idol.

The Pursuit of Happyness

A very inspiring movie last 2006 starring Will Smith but i have just watched this last night and I got tears at the end :'(

"You got a dream.. You got to protect it."
"Dont let anyone tell you can't do it.. because you can.."

"You want something, go get it.. PERIOD"
-Chris Gardner

It's a story of hope, adventure, courage, struggles and more that you would fall in love with.. The movie got good reviews and even rated by most as the best movie of Will Smith. "The Pursuit of Happyness" is based on the true story of Chris Gardner, whose rags-to-serious-riches story attracted the interest of dozens of movie producers. Gardner was a struggling salesman in San Francisco in the 1980s and has a son (who was played by Will Smith's real son, Jaden Christopher Syre Smith) whom he loved so much, soon experienced financial problems and even became one of those homeless people and even slept at mens restroom -- well, see the movie then.. very terrific...
Here's a trailer from YouTube.. enjoy... :)
